ESI attended the Elko Mining Expo this past week, having the opportunity to meet many industry customers and partners. This conference is regional in scope, primarily focused on Barrick, Newmont and precious metals mining in the Elko region
Demand for geosynthetics in this region remains steady with several large capital projects planned for 2019 and 2020. However the Barrick/Newmont merger looms large, with customers reporting capital project delays due to the pending merger, and employees dealing with future uncertainty.
Upcoming capital projects for lithium, copper and silver in southern Nevada and Arizona were often cited as well.
